Yes please (I own an event server, and I dont want it to be a tiny amount of players)
It is phisically impossible to have no player limit as every 1 player slot allowed takes so much of storage. So unless you want your server to be broken then nope.
1 Player by itself doesn’t take up a lot of storage, and storage is virtually infinite these days, but ram/cpu isn’t as limitless. But it’s not that many players cause a lot of lagg if they stay close together, it’s mainly when players generate chunks where it gets laggy. Minecraft is very inefficient in loading chunks, especially because almost everything is running on a single thread.
^^ edit
Its very inefficient at generating chunks, loading isn’t that big of an issue but still creates lagg
This wouldn't be that much a problem, just allow server to handle as many player as they can. If you set limit to 1000, doesn't mean server can handle that much, just means that many allowed to join. If it crashes/lagging, running out of ram etc. then PS owner know to set it lower. VIP/MVP servers would still be able to handle more players.
